To kick start your new career, there are factors to consider about what you’re looking for in a company. For example, the culture, compensation and benefits, pay-scale or even the working experience. With the amount of career options to venture, one would need some time to consider these 2 type of employers and how each would align to the type of career you want.




MNCs are known to have a good brand reputation associated to them therefore when you work for one, you may have the same kind of prestige associated with them. Many would compete to get into these firms thus making an effort to land into anyone of these firms



MNCs being large organizations, there would be room for diversification and relocation, given that there are different departments and branches. At times, the opportunities might be going global where you might be relocated to another country as a promotion opportunity.

When an individual is given the chance to be a part of an MNC, there would be a sense of reassurance for exposure to make a mark in the industry. There would be available trainings for individuals as well as adequate facilities provided.

Besides that, within the organization itself it becomes tougher to grow and gain new knowledge as overtime the job may become repetitive. This may result in losing motivation to continue working as tasks become mundane.

At times SMEs do have lesser resources in comparison to MNCs therefore employers would expect their employees to take on tasks beyond their given job scopes. One gets a 360 view of company-wide operations where each individual can be thoroughly involved. The work becomes less mundane compared to an MNC and it gives one the opportunity to cultivate their skills in other aspects.

In a smaller company with a flatter hierarchical structure, your accomplishments are easily recognized by employers. With that it becomes easier to rise the ranks within a shorter timespan as you work directly with the top management to implement solutions for your company.

Being in a smaller firm, there is a need to directly interact with one another as every individual form a part of the team. A stronger synergy can be felt in the organization with the dynamics created.

Smaller businesses may have lesser employment benefits to offer compared to large organisations. At times, SMEs do offer competitive salaries to employees and even unique bonuses for performing employees.



While working in smaller firm, one should not expect to have formal trainings. Your job assigned is often learnt on the spot which varies from situation to situation, in which your personal development becomes your own responsibility to carry.
